Mini Golf Questions
These two sets are both popular and they are in fact the same layout with 2 small changes. Holes #4 and #9 are the only difference with the add-on section being smaller. We built the Premium 9 hole as our first design and during our testing and trials in the rental business we decided to make those two pieces the same width as the rest of the other pieces for easier stacking on the cart. This really has no difference in the gameplay and this design idea was focused on the portability of the set.
One of the advantages to the aluminum may be the ability to withstand harsher weather conditions. We do not recommend leaving any sets in standing water or long term exposure to weather, however the aluminum will have better lasting results in these conditions. Our aluminum is anodized so this will have even greater ability to avoid corrosion.
The wood sets can get rained on lightly but we do not recommend long term exposure to the weather or allowing the frames to sit in standing water. They are constructed with exterior grade materials which makes them water resistant but not water proof. If you do get caught in a heavy rain it will be fine but you should allow the pieces to dry out as soon as possible.
Anodized aluminum is aluminum that has been treated through an electrochemical process to form a thicker, protective oxide layer on its surface. This process enhances its corrosion resistance, durability, and aesthetic appeal, making it suitable for various applications in architecture, automotive, and consumer products.
Yes, anodized aluminum is generally better than regular aluminum because it has enhanced corrosion resistance, greater durability, and improved aesthetic options, making it more suitable for various applications, especially in harsh environments.
Yes, but with care. The mini golf sets are shipped with foam or other separations between each section. We do recommend with the painted frames to keep them separated to let the paint cure for atleast a month or so. you can continue to use the separation if you wish. When stacking the frames directly on top of each other you will need to set the pieces on without sliding or dragging the painted surfaces together to avoid scratching and scuffing. Once they are stacked on top of each other evenly, take two ratchet straps and strap them tightly to the cart for transporting. When traveling they will bounce around and shift out of place if not strapped tightly. The non painted finishes may hold up better for this type of stacking.
Yes, the mini golf frames are designed and built with this in mind. It is tested to a 400 pound person standing directly on top of the flat greens and the sides. The wood and fastners do have limitations if someone were to get rough and create forceful damage.
Each set will include the designated frame sections. The basic sets have 9 straight sections and the premiums and slim stack sets include 14 frame sections total. The optional free obstacles include 5 pieces that come with the purchase of the wooden sets only. Other items can be purchased separately.
The mini golf sets are set up and priced as just the frames that we manufacture. The stuff that is not included for the operation of the set include; (These Items can be purchased separate)
Must have; Putters and balls, you will also need to purchase rechargeable batteries for the LED versions to light up the sets. The battery option is not needed for the non LED option sets.
Optional but helpful; Score cards, pencils, transport cart, and extra obstacles
The mini golf sets are powered through the controller on the bottom side of each section. These can be powered by a 120 volt outlet through a plug-in that converts to 12 volts, the recommended process would be to power with a 12 volt rechargeable battery. Neither of the options are included with the set and needs to be purchased separately. We assume that most will choose to purchase the batteries and these batteries include the plug-in to recharge the battery that can also be used directly to the mini golf set to power the LED lights.
The 12 volt batteries that we recommend look like a portable hard drive or cell phone size. These are sometimes called CCTV batteries. They will fit directly underneath each section. The basic 9 hole will require 9 batteries and the premiums and slim stack sets will require 14 total.
The batteries need to be 3000 mAh minimum which will last between 6 to 10 hours between charges. The 6000 mAh battery will last between 10 to 20 hours or more. This time varies a bit depending on the light colors and flashing modes. The solid colors Red, Green, Blue will use the least amount of power.
We recommend starting with atleast 15 putters at a minimum and you can always add more if needed. However, for a 9 hole a comfortable starting number that we see is 25 putters. They come in different lengths so you have to consider your age groups. Start with 5 of 5 different lengths from short to long totalling 25 putters.
You will need extra balls since they are small and you will lose some. Start with 50 multi-color balls so they can choose their colors to play.
When comparing materials, it’s important to evaluate multiple factors, such as strength-to-weight ratio and cost. For instance, while steel offers greater strength than aluminum at the same size, aluminum is significantly lighter and doesn’t rust, though it tends to be pricier. Similarly, aluminum is stronger than wood, but wood is usually more affordable. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages.
In this case, we have constructed the wooden mini golf frame to be sturdy and suitable for use. It can support players' weight, with each section weighing similarly to aluminum components. Keep in mind that painted wood can easily scratch and scuff, while uncoated aluminum may corrode over time. We recommend considering your budget and evaluating the long-term maintenance needs of each option. For more details, please visit our product pages.
